Keep an Open Mind

“An open mind leaves a chance for someone to drop a worthwhile thought in it.” -Anonymous

An open mind allows you to exchange ideas. Let’s put it this way: you have a Dollar, and I have a Dollar, and we both exchange our Dollars with each other, we’ll still have only a Dollar each whereas you have an idea and I have another idea, and we both exchange our ideas. Now, we are both more productive with one additional idea resulting in two ideas each.

An open mind can be compared, in layman’s terms, to an open vessel that can be utilized to store many a different thing at a given time or to carry the same from one place to another.

However, the vessel, irrespective of its size, has certain limitations where an open mind has a limitless capacity. Having said that, let us not forget that our mind IS NOT a vessel, rather it’s a processing unit with the power to actually analyze what comes in it and then to decide whether to store it for later use or discard it altogether.

Why does every coach, everywhere, advise everybody to have an open mind? The answer is not that simple because, if it were, everybody would have an open mind and there would be no need for any guiding spirits and/or soothsayers, nor would there be any need for coaches, guides and personality developers or motivational gurus.

How does an open mind relate to the day-to-day lifestyle of an ordinary human being, concerning achieving his or her dreams in real life?

An open mind is always receptive to new opportunities, but it does not keep jumping endlessly.

The function of an open mind is to analyze a given opportunity and weigh it against your strongest traits to bring it to fruition. I must also reiterate that your personal commitment to outshine yourself is one of the most substantial responsibilities that you need to achieve outstanding results.

The higher you wish to go, stronger and wider a base you will have to build for yourself. Those who keep pushing people as a habit seldom make friends whereas those who pull get to keep them for long.

The choice is entirely yours though the results may be directly opposite. Once you get into the ‘pulling’ mode, you develop a positive attitude. You start to act like a magnet that pulls people. You grow your circle and gain more and more respect from those you’ve drawn towards yourself. This singular action of yours results in creating a much higher level of trust.

It is this acquired trust that opens more doors for you whereby you start looking at this universe from a different perspective. Instead of living a once monotonous lifestyle, you have built yourself a relatively comfortable circle of individuals who appreciate your gesture and reciprocate likewise.

You feel more warmth in your life, and you start enjoying the passing moments more and more. Soon you will find that your life is not dull and drab anymore instead it’s getting exciting. You start feeling the small changes and your mind, somewhat the open mind, adjusts itself accordingly.

Personally speaking, I don’t have the mind that minds at all!!!

An open mind is a filter that percolates only the most feasible and appropriate ideas into your thought process so that you may take smaller steps towards a bigger goal.

An open mind is a ladder that will help you stay on course and guide you in your quest for a better tomorrow. An open mind is the single most important source that can keep you motivated in this quest, from those who have been there before.

An open mind will be your guide and teacher because it will stop you from resigning yourself to your current situation just because everybody else in your circle has also resigned himself to it.

An open mind gives you the power to break all barriers and think wild; it allows your imagination to run wild and think of immense possibilities that you could never think of before. If it were not for an open mind, there would not have been so many developments in this world.
